THE WINE
The Sangiovese vine, associated more often with Tuscany, Umbria, Emilia-Romagna and Le Marche, has been growing in Abruzzo for centuries. In the area of Atessa in the province of Chieti, the Sangiovese yields a wine of good size.
Grapes are harvested in September, and then fermented in stainless steel tanks. After a brief passage in large oak, it is bottled and sold young. This Sangiovese will develop in the bottle for three or more years, if stored properly. We recommend that you open it a half-hour or more before serving. Di Rienzo Sangiovese is a great value in the world of Sangiovese-based wines.

THE VINE
Sangiovese is a red grape varietal that dates to the Roman classical era. Its etymology, “Sangue di Giove” (“Blood of Jupiter”) is an indication of its power and grandeur. It is one of Italy’s most important grapes, producing Brunello di Montalcino and providing the basis for Chianti, Chianti Classico, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
