Opera. Lifestyle. The Extraordinary.
A magical place famed for the birth of opera, fast cars and a passion for all things extraordinary. Where land meets the sea, passion turns to poetry, transcends into rhapsody and beautiful hand picked grapes transform into wine. Villa Puccini was inspired by this long history rich with opera, culture, elegance, prestige and most of all a passion for wine.
The poet, Francesco Redi, called the red wine of Montepulciano “noble… king of all wines.” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano has many of the characteristics of Brunello di Montepulciano and Chianti Classico Riserva. This is a rich wine with 15 days of skin contact during fermentation, followed by two years in large Slavonian oak casks. Further refinement of 6-8 months in the bottle takes place before the wine is released. All aging occurs at the Castellani estate in the zone of production. Villa Puccini Vino Nobile di Montepulciano will age gracefully for 5-7 years. We feel that this historic wine will be discovered by Americans in the next few years.
Wine-making standards in Montepulciano have steadily improved in the past two decades. Villa Puccini Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a wine of class and value.
Prugnolo Gentile is the local name for Sangiovese Grosso. It is a vigorous, hearty vine softened by the Canaiolo Nero and a touch of Mammolo which adds a noticeable bouquet of violets. There is also a trace of Grechetto and Malvasia, white grapes which embellish the balance and finesse of Vino Nobile.
A deep ruby to purple color, a complex bouquet of cherries and violets, a rich, dry taste with nuances of plums and black pepper, and a long, pleasantly tannic finish.
90% Prugnolo Gentile (aka Sangiovese), 10% Canaiolo Nero
Steaks, chops, meats and pastas with spicy sauces. Game dishes, cheeses. Excellent with rich foods due to its tannic backbone. Ideal with dishes based on rosemary and garlic.
