Corte Pavone - Tenute Loacker Corte Pavone is located in the Casanuova area of Montalcino 1,500 ft. above sea level, one of the loftiest positions in the zone. Although the estate covers 225 acres, it is mostly meadows and forests. Only 9.88 acres are dedicated to vineyards, with a plan of converting another 10 acres with the best exposure. The entire cantina is temperature controlled. Corte Pavone is a unique estate insofar as it uses Slavonian casks, French Barrique and Austrian oak barrels to age its wines. In both the cultivation of the grapes and in the vinification process, natural and biological practices are adhered to, making Corte Pavone 100% organic. Corte Pavone is owned by Rainer Loacker and his sons, Hayo and Franz. Hayo is the winemaker. Mr. Loacker is a renowned personality in wine and food and in the holistic community. His family owns Biscotti Loacker; he owns Remedia Loacker which produces and markets enzymes and other natural nutrients. He also owns Tenuta Schwarthof near Bolzano in Alto-Adige and Valdifalco in the Maremma, that is, coastal Tuscany.
